ViaRT Award is back for its sixth edition!

This year’s theme is “ReFabric the Future,” and we are inviting students across Singapore to get creative with recycled or unwanted fabric. The challenge is simple: turn what might have been thrown away into meaningful artworks or functional design items. Your creation can respond directly to the problem of textile waste, or it can explore bigger issues of climate change through the medium of fabric. This competition is also held in support of the National Environment Agency’s (NEA) Recycle Right initiative, which promotes a culture of 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).”
Why fabric? Textile waste is one of the fastest-growing forms of pollution in the world today. By rethinking what fabric can be, students have the chance to show not only their artistic talent, but also how creativity can spark real change in the way we live and consume.
Submissions will open on September 15th and close on December 31st, 2025. Works will be judged on creativity, impact, and the strength of the sustainability message.
Awards will be given in three categories:
-
Best Sustainable Message Award – for the piece that most clearly communicates the issue of textile waste or climate change
-
Most Creative Award – for the most original and innovative use of recycled fabric
-
Most Artistic Award – for the most visually striking work
Winners can look forward to prizes, cash awards, and opportunities to showcase their works in public exhibitions. Selected entries may also be featured in future sustainability-themed showcases, giving young voices a platform to inspire the community.
At ViaRT, we believe creativity has the power to shape a greener future. Join us in “ReFabric the Future” and let’s stitch together new ideas for a more sustainable tomorrow.
